238 Summit is a three bedroom townhouse.  It is located in Ethel Terrace which is a row of five brick townhouses on the corner of Summit and Washtenaw, directly across from the water tower.

When Flo-Mar Apartments began managing 238 Summit, there were no tenants living in the apartment.  Flo-Mar saw this as a wonderful opportunity to make some improvements before bringing in new tenants.

As you can see from the picture to the right, the first thing we decided to work on was the kitchen.  It was a bit disorganized, very outdated, and there was a lot of wasted space where appliances and valuable cupboard space could be used.  Outdated electrical wiring and plumbing also meant that the apartment could not tolerate many modern conveniences like dishwashers, microwaves, entertainment centers and computers.

Rex, Dave and Ben (the Flo-Mar Maintenance team) began by removing the old cabinets and the old floor which was pink tile laid in a heavy concrete mud set.  Once the original wood floor beneath was revealed, they moved to the walls so that new wiring and plumbing could be put into place.  Finally, the wall between the kitchen and dinning room was removed to enlarge the space and make room for a breakfast bar.

In these pictures you can see the new 42 inch oak cabinets that reach the ceilings.  The countertops have been tiled with a dark blue slate porcelain tile which will continue up the walls to create a backsplash that is both beautiful and easy to clean.
